Why is nobody mentioning using a tenths decimal, like 1.1 days ago, 1.9 years ago, 2.5 weeks ago. That’s how I like to implement it!

Instead of a decimal place I like to use the next smaller unit, i.e.
1 day 2 hours ago 1 year 10 months ago 2 weeks 3 days ago
As a user "1.9 years" would have me scratching my head a bit.
