I am quite sympathetic to the author’s viewpoint and have quite a few behaviors that are similar. I share files to my friends from my own server at home via aft.
But I don’t know if I fully buy the argument here. Mac OS is a scriptable environment and nothing even requires you to have an iCloud account or use all the Apple ecosystem stuff on a MacBook. My work laptop is a MacBook and I still use only open source stuff on it, which I script for greater productivity, and it feels very efficient.
