Gravy designs and builds the most beautiful and usable digital products.

We are growing our consulting capacity and are looking for a mid–to–senior-level designer to help design the future of energy system design, development platforms, healthcare, and more! Our current need is ideally for someone on a contract basis, with the understanding that the role will evolve into a full-time role if there’s a mutual fit.
I’ve been designing human-centered systems for almost 10 years now, and I’m looking for someone interested in learning and who cares about continued professional development. In addition to running Gravy, I teach design research, so come motivated and ready to learn! If you think you’re a good fit, send me your portfolio and share what’s exciting you most in the world right now.
hn-hiring@heygravy.com
It could be something cool you’ve learned, something you’re working on, or something you’ve just been geeking out about. Why is it interesting to you?
We’re looking for someone who is excited about the chance to build infrastructure for other deep learning researchers (ex: automated hyperparameter optimzers, experiment tracking tools, model debugging methods, etc).
Unique aspects of this role:
- Get paid above market, in cash.
- We understand remote work. Some of us have worked remotely for decades.
- We care about code quality. Even our deep learning code has tests.
Requirements:
- Be a great software engineer (~5+ years of post-college work experience or equivalent).
Generally Intelligent is an early-stage AI research company. Our mission is to understand the fundamentals of learning and build safe, humane machine intelligence. We’re supported by investors including Y Combinator, researchers from OpenAI, Lightspeed, and Threshold (formerly DFJ).
I do resume work, usually for IT professionals. I try to clean it up and improve it and give you some feedback on why I did what I did so you can up your game in the future. It's sort of like resume coaching because we all know you are supposed to do a custom resume for every job. A resume is never "one and done" so I treat it like this is the final word. I treat it like this is something that will help you keep it clean and readable.
No PDFs. They cannot be edited. I typically get Google docs from people.
I'm also available for other kinds of writing work on an ad hoc basis. I have had people ask me to do things like edit their website pages. So if you think I might be able to help you with something, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
This might be a weird one. I'm looking for a flexible, experienced full-stack developer to maintain my set of 4-5 personal projects while I continue to work on my startup. Most of these projects are low traffic and only need a bug fix or small new feature, but there's also one with complex JS and a significant following. I'm paying for this work personally.
Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience with Python/Django and JS, with some TS experience as well; able to think independently and make good code architecture decisions; and ideally able to make not-terrible UX decisions, but that's not a requirement. As I'm working on a startup full-time, you must occasionally be willing to explore possible solutions on your own and present synthesized options when there's uncertainty.
In return, I'm willing to pay a high market hourly rate, and you can have total flexibility over how many hours per week you work. Want to take a few weeks off? Sure! From my perspective, the engagement will still be a net win over the zero hours I'm able to put in. Want to work 30 hours a week for several months? Also great! One of the projects has an arbitrarily long roadmap.
Please email bitrot@gmail.com if you're at all curious and let's chat.
I'm very interested in learning more and discussing working on these projects. Please feel free to check out my email I send you a short time ago with the same username.
Also..by any chance is this job still available or has it been filled? Thanks
From 2005 until 2015 I ran my own development company. Since 2015 I’ve been using that experience to help companies and development teams take ‘the next step’. The next step in delivering higher quality products, the next step in gaining higher developer velocity and the next step in being a more predictable in planning and outcome.
I strongly believe the following factors help in taking this next step: 1. Never compromise in code quality. 2. Standardize as much as possible (to prevent reinventing the wheel and focus on adding value) 3. Automate everything 4. Create a safe to fail environment.
SEEKING WORK, South East Asia (UTC+7), remote work OK, I am very flexible with working hours and can accommodate most time zones, experienced remote worker.

Software engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and over ten years of experience in several technologies and programming languages. There are two fields where I mainly act: (1) DevOps; from database administration and data modeling to back-end programming or front-end design all the way to orchestrated deployment with latest tech and (2) Standalone software; involves embedded development in restrict environments, blockchain applications mostly related to Parity's Substrate and plain command-line interfaces.
On the open-source side of things, I regularly contribute to several projects, helping and communicating with other developers. Take a look at the available coding portfolio in my GitHub profile at https://github.com/c410-f3r where my public collaborations in the last fours years are more focused on the Rust Programming Language ecosystem.
Over 40 certified courses have been completed and eight professional certifications that covers a wide range of area were obtained from different organizations, e.g., Google (Cloud) and the Blockchain Training Alliance. Learning is very important to keep up with both old and new technologies, my newest certification is the Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) and more certifications will be earned over time.
To finish, IT in general is like a living organism that is constantly changing, that is why I am always looking forward for a new challenge to increase knowledge. For example, my proudest project is a constrained NP-problem solver compiled to WASM (https://c410-f3r.github.io/mop-playground) where I spent years reading scientific articles to write efficient data-structures and algorithms.

Looking for senior frontend engineer and/or someone with experience developing Google Sheets extensions.
At Splitgraph (https://www.splitgraph.com) we're building a platform for data cataloging, integration and governance. The basic idea is that the user can connect live data to Splitgraph, or upload versioned snapshots called “data images”. Then we give them a unified SQL interface to query all that data, a catalog to discover and share it, and tools to build/push/pull it.
We want to hire a Senior Frontend Engineer to contract with us and help with two projects.
- (a) Google Sheets extension. We want to build a Google Sheets extension for executing SQL queries against the Splitgraph Data Delivery Network ("DDN", the public Postgres endpoint). This will probably mean sending SQL queries to our SQL-over-HTTP API [0], although if you could get an ODBC driver to work with Google Sheets, you could connect directly via SQL to the DDN. We'll also need to figure out how to integrate auth / UI with the main site.
- (b) Taking over the frontend / marketing website at splitgraph.com. This is a next.js / react project with some custom functionality for compiling our documentation to create the static site. The code [1] is kind of messy, but you can help with it! We're looking for someone to take over maintenance of this stack and assist with the upcoming redesign. This would be a medium to long-term project.
If you're interested in either of these projects (or both), please email careers [AT] splitgraph.com. The subject line should include "Freelancer - Frontend" and the body of the email should include which project(s) you want to work on. Please include LinkedIn, GitHub, and/or anything you'd like to share to convince us you're the right person to hire.

Software Engineer, ex-Amazon. Lately I have been consulting for companies building solutions with GPT-3 (have access to the beta). If you are curious if GPT-3 is feasible for your usecase let me know
Mathematical coder with over a decade of python experience. I've also been coding in rust on the side and occasionally as part of my job for the past few years.
I'm looking for an interesting project and have a little time (say 10 hours per week) that I could carve out for an interesting project.
Enchant ( https://enchant.com ) is looking for a UI/UX designer to iterate on SaaS product interface concepts. Email careers@ with samples of of SaaS interfaces you've designed and are proud of.
Branding & identity designer, full-stack web developer focused on helping startups get both their marketing and product off the ground ASAP. I cover everything from logos and business cards to websites and web apps (Node + Mongo). If you have an idea and a plan of attack, I can build it out for you.
Previously, I was a front-end engineer at Infinera working on web-based telecom solutions, mainly focused on bringing their Java-based DNA NMS to the web using Angular and D3.js. The highlight of my work there was building a D3.js-based semantic zoom-pan interface that allowed customers to start at the node level and drill down into the servers at each node, then into the racks inside the server, continue still further down to the chips and lasers inside the racks. This works similar to how you can zoom-pan from the world map all the way down to the street level in Google Maps. This allowed navigating the interface with zero clicks so NOC engineers can see an alarm and simply scroll to dig deep down into a node and identify the faulty piece of equipment. Besides this, I also designed and implemented a standard style guide/design language for all their internal apps along with a unified icon theme.
Over the years I have been lucky to have found quite a few clients from these threads and it has always been exciting to work with HNers. My one and only regret so far was when I almost landed the logo design for jsDelivr CDN; even though they paid me for the job, I found out later they later decided to go with a different design that has an angular.js/HTML5 bent to it. I use their service quite a bit and I would've loved to see my work on their website. That would have been a big break for me and I'm sad to have missed out on it.
Hope to redeem myself soon with my next project. Looking forward to meeting some new faces this time around, cheers : )
Please, share more information about the supposed project. I would like to check teh code base if that's possible and see what actually I'm assigning to.
Regards
Hello,
Could you please share more information about the project. I would also like to check the code base before assigning the developer, is that possible?
