Philips Professional Display has a Signage Screen probably based on the same panel available for some time. I have seen it the first time at ISE last January and it looks pretty good, considering it is ePaper. About half the price.
> Other countries' dishwashers are also connected to the hot water supply.
I think it is more a 110V vs. 230V household power issue. For 110V countries like the US the amps needed to heat up the water would be pretty high or the heat up would take very long. In Europe however I have yet to come across a dish-washer that is connected to the hot water supply.
What kind of PMS integrations did you look for? The space is horrible (especially so after Oracle bought Micros-Fidelio) but there are a ton of companies offering interfacing middlewares that connect to a ton of different PMS systems and offer a unified API.
Scrolling through these made me remember that some years ago Katie Melua played a concert on the bottom of the "feet" of Troll A platform (number 4 of the list). Apparently world record for the deepest concert. Absolutely mind blowing scale.
You can live in an unban environment without these problems. Maybe not often found in the US, but where I live (Germany and most of the rest of Europe) it is certainly possible.
4AM deliveries and drunk people are not a reality in most neighbourhoods. I visited family in a small village and the noise from the combine harvester on the fields and trucks of harvest going by was significantly higher then the background noise on my street at night.
Also nothing stops you from still owning a car (but using it less), or taking a car-share or cargo bike to Costco.
Thing is noone forces you to live in a dense urban environment. Everyone should have the freedom to choose, while paying the actual cost (with externalities).
Obvious Plug for not-just-bikes on youtube. Great channel that goes into good detail on these matters.
It sometimes helps to call the council about this. Many streetlamps have the option for shading in certain directions to prevent your problem, but the guys installing it might not set it correctly.
My parents had the exact problem. Called up the city and actually a few days later a cherry picker appeared and there was no more light glaring into their windows.
There have also been occasions where Museums or clubs owning Steam Locos bid for contracts hauling freight and provide the service using their Steamers. Example here where they supply a railway construction site [1] or here [2] were some fertiliser is pulled.
I dont know about the use as a shelter, but you might be interested in the fact that one of the largest german shipyards Blohm & Voss is right at the south side of the tunnel.
you can and you should. I have a Zenitar 50mm f2, which was the standart glass fitted to the Zenit camera discussed in the article on a M42 adapter. It makes beautiful pictures especially considering ypu can pick it up for ~10€ or sometimes free.
Thing is in the previous discussion it was already mentioned by experts that this "No" would be likely and that the result would be an App that would not be tightly integrated with the OS and thus less useful (and less used). But its now really easy for the politicians to point the finger at Apple instead of admitting ones fault.
How large the influence of the CCC actually has been is of course uncertain but their comments have played a big part in public discussion of the last days. Most articles that I have read mentioned the criticism. And in German media quoting the CCC is often synonymous with "the nerds who actually understand computer say" (in good but also bad ways).
