Just a guess, but in that case, very few people really knew who those lawmakers were, and there wasn't camera footage of the murder in that case to be spread virally on social media.

A lot of the media coverage this week begins with an introduction to Mr. Kirk. Do you think he was a household name?

I blame the Oblivion remake

My favorite Carter story was when he was out on a fishing boat and there was a swamp rabbit that aggressively approached his boat. Carter used his paddle to shoo it away. He told his advisers about it, but they didn't believe him. But a White House photographer was taking pictures of the trip at the time and captured the rabbit in the picture. Of course, the press blew it out of proportion and used it to mock/attack Carter.

For those that have seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I've always recreationally believed that the 'killer rabbit' in that movie was the same rabbit that went after Carter in his fishing boat.

Rest in Peace, Jimmy.

I hadn't heard about this and thought "swamp rabbit" was some catch term for alligator. Nope! It was actually a rabbit! Thanks for sharing this.

Mystery Biscuits!

Not to nit pick, a better term you are looking for is "headcannon" as in "my headcannon is that the 'killer rabbit' in that movie was the same rabbit that went after Carter in his fishing boat."

I think I will be telling people this about the Holy Grail from now on...

RIP Jimmy

Headcanon, rather.

Games on a surface level used to be somewhat simpler, but man, I pine for the days of games that wouldn't waste your time with long intro segments and just let you enjoy what it had to offer right from the get go.

That statement made me laugh a bit. On some level a lot of games (e.g. those repetitive "open" world games) seem to b structured around wasting time. Collect 10 herbs, raid the hideout, activate the lighthouse, etc.

Haven't played games on a long time, but from watching some let's plays I got the impression that a lot of games are just repetitive grinding these days.

Classic Seinfeld moment - for those that haven't seen it:

Oh man, this is a lot of fun

When did that sad-face blue screen start? I'm thinking it was Windows 8

I've been using a MacBook Pro 2015 for a while now for my personal stuff - it's been nothing but reliable for everything from programming to surfing the web to DJ mixing. Just recently, the battery cycles exceeded normal usage and I got a notification from the system that the 'Battery should be replaced soon' - almost as soon as this happened, I experienced random slowdowns, freezing, etc just doing low-intensity tasks like browsing this site. Open up Activity Monitor and find that the 'kernel_task' is absolutely throttling my CPU. Long story short, this particular MacBook Pro had a battery recall and Apple replaced mine for free - worked just like new after that, which I'm grateful for since it's basically the best laptop I've ever used.

There's actually a growing subgenre of horror videogames that utilize this aesthetic to great effect. It's mostly an "indie" thing right now, but heck, the most recent prominent example I can think of is Puppet Combo's 'Murder House' game, which looked and played like a '90s PS1 horror title, tank controls and all, and yet it was still scarier and spookier and than Resident Evil's latest triple A title.

Here's the Steam page if anyone is interested in what it looks like:

Huh. I really don't see the appeal of that aesthetic. To me it just looks poorly done, not vintage. If it's actually trying to be vintage, it misses the mark.

EA will keep his name and they'll continue to make a boatload of money with each yearly release while making the minimum amount of fan-requested changes with the least effort possible.

The game is actually regressing. Just bought Madden after 3 years and the initial load time is somehow longer. Game sometimes stutters when running plays. Don't get me started on MUT being pushed everywhere. At this point, I wish they'd give me Madden 07 with better graphics.

They are doing the same thing with Fifa, pushing FUT and hoping kids gamble on packs. Gaming isn't about genuine good fun now, it is too focused on milking Mom and Dads wallets. I took a few years off Fifa because it was heading that direction and I knew it was time to retire. Caved in and purchased Fifa 22 last week after a 3 year sabbatical.

My wife: "How's the new game?!?" Me: "Feels like 2019, I'm not sure what I bought."

I'm officially done with yearly sports releases and I guess that's ok to them because I'm clearly not their target demographic anymore.

> I'm clearly not their target demographic anymore.

Every year a new crop of kids come of age for the parents to be willing to buy them a game. For the rest, it's a status symbol just like the annual purchase of a new phone. Gotta have the latest player rankings! Like purchasing skins/wardrobe/stickers for in-game use. A whole generation of people that will probably be just fine paying Toyota a monthly fee to use their key FOBs.

I feel like this can apply to just about all sports related video games.

lol sadly exactly right I'm sure
