It's Greek. Television is latin (tele=far, videre/visus=to see), microscope is Greek (micro=small, skopein=to see).

'tele' is Greek (telos is 'extremity' roughly, from which the adverbial sense "far off" for 'tele-').

Television is of mixed etymology.
