I don't know what slumber party means but it seems completely crazy to have a bunch of kids together and play video games, eat pizza, watch horror movies. Do you want spoiled fat bored and boring kids? Because that's how you get that.

Yes, I'm sure that a single party on his birthday will make him fat. For all we know he's an athlete competing on the Youth Olympics, but it matters not, that single evening will forever condemn him to be fat.

Well, I used this story as a general example. I guess many kids have similar birthday parties everywhere in the U.S. And if kids watch screens (movie and video games) when they are together, I can safely guess they do it even more when they're back after school. And I'm sharing here to say that it doesn't have to be like that. Books, outdoor games, Lego, etc are much better. (I'm sceptical about sport, it's too brutal and dangerous)

sceptical about sport? too brutal and dangerous? Well...the world outside itself is too brutal and dangerous. Don't let your kids go out.

I do not buy this argument. The world is not like sports. For example, the real world is not fair. Sports for the masses is a very recent invention (less than 100 yo). Before that, we had warrior training, and a few outdoor games.

The world is not like sports anyway, the most visible difference is that in the real world, the weak ugly computer geek wins in the end, which we all know here.

You should brush up on your history of sports. The modern Olympic games alone are older than that.

Modern sport is an invention by British noblemen. Greek olympic games were very different: a preparation for war, a preconfrontation. See the difference between say criquet or polo and weight lifting or javelot.
