From and older perspective, we used to find things like "having 378238 drivers for matrix and line printers noone uses", so while they may not eat cpu resources and possibly zero ram too, every user had to install them and only 0.01% needed them to be included in the OS installation.

Guess the same would go for a word processor that comes with thousands of super small variations of Times New Roman where basically one would suffice, so just because you want to write a standard text document on your machine you also got to install tons and tons of fonts, icon packs, 'funny' clipart and so forth.

For things like drivers and fonts, depending on your OS, it may actually consume resources if the OS keeps an active list of what you can choose from, and no, it will not make your machine swap in itself, but if you feel it is unnecessary, then "bloat" would be a good word for the extras you never use or need.
