I recently found out my wife wants a gecko, so I’ve begun planning for a mega-paradise. I want weather systems, every sensor I could possibly ram in there, cameras, and more. Planning to jury rig a toilet setup to run water from the reservoir to the rain system.
The gecko comes from New Caledonia, so my goal will be to replicate that environment as closely as possible. This will be difficult, since most of the plants on the island are only found there, but you can get surprisingly close.
One awesome fact I learned about this: conifers actually started out in warm climates. They just got out-competed once angiosperms (flowers!) came about.
You don't care about anything the largest organization that promotes the ethical treatment of animals has to say? Maybe that's a good indicator you shouldn't have your pet gecko.
