Trump is really showing the world that any kind of dependence on USA on any level is a liability. I wonder how long it will take for the US to rebuild the political goodwill he is burning.
The US has zero goodwill after almost a hundred years of ridiculous amounts of assistance. We're not getting any less goodwill by stopping. The people who consume anti-American propaganda will continue to do so. Cool story though.
What has Poland done for the US? Apart from leaking us their plans to turn the EU into a nuclear wasteland way back. No, spending on the Polish military is not "for the US". No, preventing the EU from becoming a nuclear wasteland is not "for the US". Those things are for Poland.
On the other hand, the US will continue liking Poland as much as we always have, no matter how little (to nothing) that's done for us. As Americans, we understand friendship is usually a one way street.
Our Fair Weather Friends should make themselves known sooner rather than later. If their state television wants to dive into the anti-American propaganda, like many other EU countries and Canada do, we very well might reciprocate though.
If anyone is fair weather it’s the USA. You have betrayed western civilisation. Good for you. But to then call us fair weather friends is too much on top of all the rest.
What are you talking about? The sentiment towards USA has been positive, pretty much worldwide apart from the places you would expect (Russia, china, greater middle east, parts of the Balkans). In Europe it was pretty stellar until the Iraq war.
Looking at sentiment towards the USA in Africa it is clear that there is quite a lot of goodwill.
True enough. I was really targeting Germany, Paris and Brussels with my statement, the power centers, and I should say something more like net negative sentiment, as viewed from their respective mouthpieces and official policies. I was thinking more EU Parliament and TV than man on the street.
What many Americans don't seem to understand is that the burning of political goodwill started long before Trump - he's just pouring gasoline on the dumpster fire that started with America's illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003 and has been festering ever since ..
This is merely anti-American propaganda, and that has not changed. As I continue to say, the anti-American will become anti-EU in short order, with all the empty hate- and fearmongering. Obviously something EU or DE related instead of US like defense. Get the laughs in while you can, because the downsides of myopia are far and wide.
Having to defend yourselves is going to be expensive. Which means either higher taxes or lower social spending. Someone has to be to blame, and keep it real, we know who. For everything. And we don't care.
There is nothing anti-American/propaganda about the piles of smouldering rubble that the American people leave across the landscape, and if its propaganda, its propaganda of your own states' making - and is, thus, your responsibility, citizen.
The world is tired of America's war machine. That's not propaganda, its a fact.
Canned response: `There's probably no word in the $LANG_TARGET that shares etymological roots with $WORD_SOURCE in $LANG_SOURCE, so it'll have to be placed in a sentence, and then translated. Otherwise it will be garbage in garbage out. This applies to any words in any languages that aren't close siblings of one another and/or combinations of languages that has not enough traffic across.`
https://youtu.be/qcNNB2qZ5kE?t=2776 around this time code. If the USA doesn't want a nation to fight then there are more issues than a F35 software kill switch etc.
