Misinformation mostly confuses your own side (slowboring.com)

The section about renewables, raised as some kind of counterbalance to the constant firehose of complete bullshit coming from Trumpworld, is in fact misinformation itself.

I wish your average Republican alternative facts met the following bar:

> What is true is that solar panels have become very cheap to manufacture, such that a well-located utility-scale solar plant is cheaper to build than a fossil fuel plant that generates the same amount of electricity over the course of a year. This is a true fact with some genuine economic significance, and it explains why a country like China that doesn’t appear to care much about climate change is building a lot of renewable energy infrastructure.

But apparently there's an inference!

> But the inference progressives wanted to draw from this LCOE framework - that there were no economic downsides to trying to strangle fossil fuel extraction — is totally wrong.

And by inference he apparently means pathetic straw man he's invented.

"Strangle"? How violent.

But anyway, his point is that Democrats fooled themselves into making 100% renewable pledges, Biden couldn't deliver and so they deserved to lose.

Except, he doesn't link these pledges and when I Google it I find people forgetting 100% carbon free (i.e. including nuclear) by 2040.

Which is totally reasonable and still 15 years away.
