Worker productivity up 1.4% with generative AI (stlouisfed.org)

There’s a lot potential still since most companies haven’t adopted these technologies yet. The market pricing these productivity gains may actually be correct.

> A 2024 working paper by Kathryn Bonney and others found that only 5.4% of firms had formally adopted generative AI as of February 2024. While firms’ adoption may increase over time, it still lags far behind, suggesting that worker adoption remains mostly informal. Thus, we emphasize that these potential productivity gains from generative AI may not immediately appear in productivity statistics, at least for now.

Almost satire. Self-reported subjective "productivity" gains from people invested in AI, or working at organizations pushing it. In a climate of frequent waves of layoffs who wouldn't report improved productivity? 1.4% a ridiculously precise number that also looks well within the margin of error--meaningless.
