Republicans Reveal Trump Tax Plan Will Cost US $4.5T (newsweek.com)

> The proposal includes $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, $1.5 trillion in spending reductions, $300 billion for immigration and military efforts, and a debt limit increase.

Hilarious. So the constitutional violation circus that is DOGE is just a sideshow to distract us from a massive deficit plan.

Dad is cutting the kids allowance just so he can open a credit card to buy fireworks.

Isn’t the idea that taxpayers have more money to spend in a free market way instead of it being wastefully spent by the government on weird projects? And that leads to growth in GDP?

So just casually glossing over the additional $2.5T in deficit spending?

I almost had a stroke when I saw this plan.

Are they kidding? All this noise to spend EVEN MORE?

> Are they kidding? All this noise to spend EVEN MORE?

Same as it always was.

Republicans have lost all right to claim that they are fiscally conservative. With all the "cost cutting" they have been up to they should be able to cover everything without borrowing.

> Republicans have lost all right to claim that they are fiscally conservative.

They lost that decades ago. Anyone who believe[d/s] otherwise wasn't paying attention.

Agreed, however, they still try to claim it.

I'm not sure what if anything has changed in the past couple days.

The (historically) well-respected Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget said a week ago that embracing Trump's priorities would incur at least a $5T over 10 years, minimum. Higher estimate is $11T.

Costs the US Government 4.5T. It saves the people the equal amount.

When the rationale for cutting spending is that the debt is out of hand and that our deficits are unsustainable (read many HN comments over the last few weeks), it sort of flies in the face of all reason to turn around and increase the deficit by $2.5T in year 0.

In fact, I would go so far to say all the talk was an outright liar liar bold faced lie of epic proportions.

It’s like catching the guy from an AA meeting at the bar an hour later with a bottle of Jack and him saying he’s only drinking it to keep it out of the hands of children.

Either we need to get deficit spending under control, or we don’t. There is no middle ground.

These guys have always been hypocrites. Scream bloody murder when out of power, spend like drunken sailors while in power. Never fails. 30+ years, always the same.

I mean I'm not sure what else you'd expect from him.

So the guy was working for the ruskies all this time, go figure!
