They tested an old iPhone 16 I had and the NFC sensor out of all thing was broken (I had massive issues with wallet not adding cards). It’s worth going into an Apple Store to have them diagnose it.

I’m pretty sure they can run the diagnostics remotely, much more convenient than going into a store!
