I think the little blurb at the beginning is there because not everyone watching it knows English. Because the humour is so physical though, that blurb is mostly all you really need to enjoy it even if you only know German.

The blurb is there because Germans are stereotypically terrible at humor (especially irony and sarcasm). It's a metajoke.

I can only hope you're being ironic, in missing that; or it's now doubly meta.
