Nix and Guix solve the problem, I don't see why they shouldn't count. Traditional global install distros are too inflexible and imperative.



There is definite friction between Nix and Rust dependency management. Nix wants all dependencies to be a Nix package, but Rust wants Cargo to dynamically manage all dependencies. It seems like the same sort of problem. Or am I missing something?
