I have been leading engineering teams over 10 years, including on C-level. It does sound trivial to me because I actually have already solved the problem many times, but you are right, the question “how” is important. It is not “how many times” though, because there is no a number. Short answer is, whenever there’s new information from discovery, whenever there’s new business goal or new data from BI, you share that with the entire cross-functional team. Communicating business expectations and updates is the job of every PM and manager. Being curious, listening and picking from this stream what’s important for your job is the part of job description for every single person in R&D.
