Re, the link: for those not familiar jwz is not a fan of HN. The link will show an image decrying HN as "finance obsessed man children" if you have HN in the Referer header. Copy and paste the link to see the article.
Re, jwz's point: I'm very surprised the article and the comments there have not mentioned the management coup at Mozilla. Unfortunate, but I think it just gets worse from here.
Firefox has a setting to not send a Referer header, right.

That is a strange management coup where the same person was 1. CEO and 2. Chair of Mozilla Corporation board and at the same time 3. Chair of Mozilla Foundation board. As Board chair she "fires" herself as CEO but retains the board positions. And she did this before she had a replacement CEO lined up. If I have the facts wrong please someone correct me.
People gets super butt-hurt when Mozilla tries to run their own adds, but they’ve been fully ad-supported for decades now. Why should Google get a huge cut of Mozilla’s revenue?
Whether Mozilla is still practically a non-profit or a for-profit, it is not healthy that Google is practically sponsoring the only two browser engines in use - and they are both sponsored by google ads.
