Sell me a massive desktop e-ink display with USB-C input. I want to code on this.

Ok you are my favorite person now. Thanks

not mentioned: 3 year lifespan

Thanks for the heads up.

3 year lifespan isn’t a deal breaker for me. But ghosting of mouse cursor and refresh rate might be for existing options. Still researching but the parent post’s tech seems to solve the ghosting and refresh rate issue of traditional eink but alas they don’t have a dumb monitor product.

I think Monoprice had one at one point. And I think boox makes a monitor. I looked into it last year but never pulled the trigger.

It's not really e-ink, it's more like transflective LCD, you can buy entire screens from guys like SunVision, LTT did a thing: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c0TcGjzKbag

Consider if you really want B/W for coding.

(E-Ink colour displays, Kaleido3 for speed, do not come in "large" size - if you do not consider the exceptional ~60'' made for showrooms.)

yeah, I tried that once and instantly realized the magnitude of information that is conveyed via color alone by syntax highlighting. Color is mandatory for me

You can convey most of that information via text/font decorations: bold, italic, underline, dot-underline, etc

It’s already something that can be done for people who have issues distinguishing colors

Same, but a laptop. I can even code over SSH, but the weight ratio for laptop usage needs to be right.

I'm using https://store.bigme.vip/products/worlds-1st-all-in-one-pc-wi... ... or rather: I have it next to my Dell. I think some of the issues "why" may be addressed by a software update later, some by moving to a sunnier country.
