In other words, Tesla is over/done. Unable to compete on value, the company just took a hard right turn toward irrelevance and is now desperately trying to wring the last bits of profit out of their over worn hype cycle. Nothing illustrates this better than execs jumping off this sinking ship.
Like most things in the current AI cycle, self driving technology is mostly just hype --- over promised and under delivered.
The lack of real "intelligence" is evidenced by the fact that "self driving" typically dies at the first unexpected/unforeseen road condition.
Don't take my word for it, just ask GM which is "redeploying" Cruise vehicles with --- wait for it, "human" drivers. Or read Tesla's "self driving" disclaimers which mandate the full attention of a human "driver" at all times.
In other words, Musk started promising it over a decade ago but the best thing you can do today with Tesla's "full self driving" is turn it off. It should be pretty obvious by now that "self driving" really isn't anywhere close to a reality.
