I’m not sure why you think we’re not hiring. Can you explain why you think that?
We are, in fact, looking for people and like many tech companies we have been for a long time. We’re a growing company, and we’ve found that most applicants who find us on HN are substantially more likely to be a good fit than the applicants we get from other places. So we’re a pretty big fan of this thread, to the point that much a of the time we only advertise our positions on HN’s “who’s hiring” threads, and not on other job boards and the likes.
Note that we’re not the kind of company that “fills a vacancy”. Instead, we look for a particular kind of proactive, self-propelled generalist engineer that fits our company culture well. The only reason we have words like “full stack”, “elixir” etc in the job ad at all is that people tend to cmd-f for those sorts of things. We actually only have one open position, “good programmer”.
Once we find an engineer like that, we’re likely to keep recruiting for similar people, which is why we post a similar job ad here quite often.
If I may ask, can you explain what triggered you in this case? We’re definitely not the only company that posts on many HN Hiring threads, right? Thanks!
