I’ve only ever heard good things about fiber. High bandwidth, relatively low cost and next to no outages because they are buried. What’s dreadful about it?
I always assumed fiber either worked or didn't, but that's not the case. My connection would drop several times a day and be down for around two minutes before the fiber gateway rebooted itself to correct the problem. I had countless service techs out, had the gateway replaced twice, and it still continued. It wasn't until I filed an FCC complaint that AT&T took me seriously and sent out a properly educated network engineer out with special equipment who was able to fix it.
