This release cadence seems too much. I don't have insights on why, but I'd be shocked if there's this much demand. Even a 2018 Mac works fine for most work information work.

Looks like they are reusing almost everything from last years model. If they have the new chip ready, it makes perfect sense to start sticking it in the MacBooks they are putting out.

What release cadence? One a year?

This is the second generation of Macbook Pro this year. The M2Pro/Max where introduced only in January.

As the other person said, it's been 9 months since the m2.

You don't need to defend Apple here. They'll be fine. It's OK to question this.

Why should anyone care how often a business sells a newer product?

Well it's frustrating that basically no matter how close you buy a device to launch it's almost immediately invalidated. I got an M2 max 3 months ago and it's already last gen...

What is the definition of invalidated? I am assuming your machine is still capable at doing what it did 3 months ago.

My guess: It’s not the shiniest, newest toy model anymore. Many people want the latest greatest just for the sake of having it.

I do understand my machine is still (more than) capable. But it is frustrating when the release cycle is so rapid, it's not just a desire for 'latest and greatest', it's an almost immediate loss of bang for buck unless you buy it basically immediately.

They released the M2 max less than a year ago.

I wasn’t defending anything, I didn’t realise it was that recent. Way to assume, though. Really engaging in good faith, mate.

As a customer, I very much like more frequent updates. This removes the problem of having to time your purchases right to get recent hardware.
