Hi, post author and founder of InfluxDB. Happy to answer questions here.

With the merge of iox into the main InfluxDB repo, are you preserving git history / external contributions at all?

The git history was preserved. There aren't really any external contributions to speak of. We've been the sole developers of IOx/InfluxDB 3.0 over the last 3.5 years.

Awesome to see that the git history is preserved! Thanks for doing this-- I've seen a few of these kinds of merges where the easier route of squash-and-forget was taken and it's always a bit disappointing.

As for external contributions, well, you have at least one (incredibly minor) external contribution that I'm aware of. I'm sure that person is happy to see their commit survived the repo transition!

Hey Paul, one thing that is not clear for me from the post is whether InfluxDB Community will also support infinite cardinality. Thanks!

All versions will support infinite cardinality, including Edge and Community. That's a result of the database architecture.
