Hypercard was mostly sidelined by the time the Internet went mainstream. By 1995 development on Hypercard was long dead. You really can't blame it for not embracing web pages.
There is an old what-if scenario where Hypercard got the ability to load stacks over the web. I personally think this would have been totally awesome and a disaster at the same time. Hypercard had no security model built in. It's basically advanced Javascript years before it appeared in browsers.
