The Relentless Pursuit of Moore's Law (semiconductor.substack.com)

It was a little interesting Jim Keller's diagram in the article showed historical architecture layers of the tech stack growing for 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s/2000s but didn't show anything for 2010s despite the article being apparently July 2023-published.

Was there stagnation in 2010s or what would/should those new tech stack market layers have been? I thought of a couple options for the 2010s if I were to augment the diagram but none were super-satisfactory. I might have put Web above OS in 2000s and moved CSPs to 2010s but that's a bit more of a "mainstream adoption" perspective than a "usefulness to EDA" perspective; not sure which he was quite oriented around. Integrated communications/Analog radio (3g/4g/5g/wifi) is perhaps another candidate, what with phones, IoT, becoming practically ubiquitous/required/default for the vast majority of computing devices.

(It seemed like he was suggesting AI-built code and chipsets as two new stack areas for the 2020s.)

Do you think he's missing a 2010 layer, or do you think the tech stack layers were stagnant in 2010s?

I cant think of a layer that would go into the 2010s. You could argue that CSP started happening in a major way in the 2010s even though AWS started in 2006.

Err chiplets not chipsets
