It's a shame that this is flagged while the front page is with few exceptions populated with irrelevant things.
A vocal number of technologists believe that we should talk only of positive things because this will make the world a better place. Truth is that they are fortunate and can afford to live in fantasy, disconnected from reality.
While this is good for their own mental health. I don't think that those building dangerous tools with potential to create dire consequences should have this right. Humanity will pay the cost of being smart but unwise.
If you don't insulate yourself from world news, it will drive you crazy. Most of it is not actionable anyway. Then again, people have made the mistake of believing "nothing has happened so far, so nothing will happen" time and time again.
As Sebastian Haffner describes the outbreak of World War I in his book "Defying Hitler":
"The last world war, with which my conscious life begins as if with a bang, hit me as it hit most Europeans: During the summer vacations."
I totally agree with you. The current overflow of disinformation context doesn't help a bit but there must be a middle ground. I personally I'm slowly going crazy. I'm probably consuming more information related to this war than I need or should. I have some ideas on how to use software to balance things but haven't put the effort. News Minimalist is helpful but not enough.

The only thing "nuclear" I'm currently somewhat expecting is a false flag nuclear catastrophe at Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine by one of the many actors in play right now where everyone may have an angle to profit from that happening.
