Magnesium is too, to a degree. With age, this is often a good property.

There are plenty of opioid analogues to decrease it safely.

With magnesium it's more the specific salts that are laxative. Like the oxide which is both a laxative and has a low bioavailability. Citrate in huge doses is used as a laxative too. On the other hand, I have good experience with the orotate. Lactate and gluconate should be good too.

Bisglycinate is supposed to have the highest bioavailability.

And IME zero laxative effects. Citrate in normal doses is also okay

Magnesium amino acid chelate is best for most, especially magnesium di-glycinate.

Magnesium supplements have laxative effects as long as they are not absorbed. More bioavailable forms of magnesium do not exhibit laxative effects in normal dosages.

Mag isn't too bad, I believe you also get acclimated to it (haven't taken it in a while).

IME it's not much different from having a fiber-heavy diet.

I think magnesium can also lead to other issues related to cardiac arrythms. I have no direct source to point to however.
