Amazing to reflect that this used to be 'state of the art' for ML only three years ago.

*state of the art running in tensorflow.js in realtime. There are limits to what you can do in the browser under 50ms for mid range laptops.

What is even the purpose of using ML in this?

"How it works:

We collaborated with four opera singers to teach a machine learning model how to sing. Tenor, Christian Joel, bass Frederick Tong, mezzo‑soprano Joanna Gamble and soprano Olivia Doutney recorded 16 hours of singing to train an algorithm called a Convolutional Neural Network. In the experiment you don’t hear their voices, but the machine learning model’s understanding of what opera singing sounds like, based on what it learnt from them."

Seems like season 3 of white lotus and Cristobal Tapia de Veer should work these blobs into the opening of the show.
