What are file systems using? What are tar/cpio/dump/rsync files using? What is kerberos using?


Not sure if “just use systemd” is a solution for everybody.


Hopefully someone can make a stand-alone daemon that emulates the API. Probably not that hard.


It will likely appear inside elogind.


That was my thought, but if they don't I'd be willing.
