Whenever I see systems that work so adversarially to my wishes, I stop to wonder why they were built like that.
And generally I find the explanation is simple: they are effective on the majority of people.
I agree, watching one Mr. Beast video doesn’t mean I want to binge watch all the rest, but how many people are unlike me?
I would bet that over 50% of people who have seen one Mr. Beast video have seen >1. Very few people watch one and quit. And pleasing those people is probably high on the priority list, since if I can get them to impulse watch videos, how likely is it I can get them to impulse buy products? Probably more than yourself.
