Might be because they saw https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_22_... coming. If that becomes law it will introduce “an obligation for providers to detect, report, block and remove child sexual abuse material from their services”

Might also because their lawyers said banning apps containing even mild sexual content while not even trying to do something like this wouldn’t hold up in court.

Being as large as they are, they can even afford to do this with the goal of seeing public outrage, ‘forcing’ them to not go forward with the idea.
