What are some mainframe jobs (developer, sysadmin, others) and what do they pay? Are any of these jobs in SV or remote?
I cut my teeth on A/UX and SunOS so I'm of a certain age, but besides having school accounts for intro/101 courses using 3270 emulation I never really got hands on. For the same reasons that today I still wish Solaris had won, I think I would enjoy certain aspects of the mainframe environment.
I wonder if any of my modern stack skillset would be useful or not.
Google now has a jobs answer box. First hit is mainframe app dev, apparently contract for $520/week in San Jose. They can actually hire people at that rate?
