Zynthian RPi Synth project releases new stable firmware (zynthian.org)

For those not familiar, Zynthian is an open source hardware/software project which runs on Raspberry Pi, optionally with a bespoke hardware kit, but can be run with as little as the Pi with an attached sound card of any type and a web browser.

The project collects pretty much every virtual synth or DSP software in the Linux ecosystem (Dexed, SetBFree, ZynAddSubFX, PD, the Mod Devices firmware, dozens of others, anything lv2, soundfonts, etc) into a simplified and compact UI with either hardware or virtual onscreen controls and optional VNC access to the full UIs of the included engines.

I don't have a kit yet but I run one with a touchscreen I had kicking around and it's really an incredible feat by the very few devs working on it.

The new stable release implements UI improvements including an amazing new home screen with a mixer, a looper app, and many other visible and awesome upgrades. If you have a Pi3, Pi4 or PiZero kicking around with any sort of audio hardware and like to make music, you should check this out. If you've got a lot of money kicking around you don't know what to do with, kits are currently available, and buying a kit is a great way to get a Pi without paying scalper prices right now.
