I have held every job in IT except (officially) security engineer. Software developer is by far the worst one. Grinding story after story and it never ends, no way to make an impression outside the dev circle due to being siloed behind PMs, you are so busy grinding stories you can't explore the business or collaborate with other departments. It is hell and most devs don't even know it because it is all they know.

I have been a dev in places where they didn't know what a story or Jira was...heaven. That having been my experience, I made the mistake of taking a standard corp dev job...fml. Career death.

The pay is good but my soul is rotting.
