Not sure for office work, but any creative (musician, writer, etc) has 1000s of things incomplete.

So the effect might only hold for

(a) things like Netflix where you enjoy the series and there's a cliffhanger (but even then, not everybody bingewatches the whole series)

(b) things like LinkedIn profile, where they hammer you on the head with nagging about its incomplete status
