Is there any apologia for this? It just seems like such an obvious & clear example, of how bad privatization/neoliberalism is for nations & peoples.

Why are political parties entirely unable to acknowledge & correct themselves? It's demented that politics is so unable to acknowledge the past in any way, unable to learn: it pretends an eternal innocence.

It makes me think of a comment #3 in "Highlights from the Comments on Subcultures"[1], on orthodox vs heresiarchs; the tendency of the system to generally reinforce it's beliefs & to bureaucrotize up, enforce it's norms, rather than consider what it's energetic & moral forces within might say. The recent round of primaries in the US had a number of very sad losses, where somewhat sound people were replaced by yes-men; sadly this disease of shallow, unthinking orthodoxy seems enormously hard to challenge in the world today. Which is remarkable to me, given the scope of information & awareness people have access to.
