For years now, many Indians—including state officials—have exhorted that "Sanskrit is the best language for AI/ML according to NASA", "Sanskrit is the language for talking computers and future supercomputers" , and "Sanskrit is the most scientific language". An essay called 'Restricted Code' on FiftyTwo debunks these claims, often made by the Hindu upper-caste milieu. It investigates the actual legacy of Sanskrit and its grammar in computing and linguistics, while highlighting that its continued use in AI/ML is a state-sponsored advertisement for the greatness of Hinduism and how 'scientific' it is, with large amounts of money being pumped into creating this product and image. The origin of NASA's role in all these claims is also investigated, revealing Indians' continuing complex about beating the West by using ancient Hindu tradition.
