That bit was fabulous because video games were a total "boys" thing back then. I worked at a studio like DMA and the only two women who worked there were the receptionist and the office manager.
Smartphones made video gaming acceptable for girls. There has been a wholesale change in the gender breakdown of gamers in just the last 10 years, which is awesome to me.
