I agree that Preview is a great tool and still use it for images, but I grew out of it when I needed to edit PDF content and outlines.
I use PDF Expert instead which is available at a reasonable price (I got mine for $20, look around for a deal) and it's made by Ukrainians to boot. That was 4 years ago and they've yet to have a paid upgrade.
It especially has effective search and replace. Everything else I tried would choke when trying to delete several hundreds bits of text from a PDF.
