For my son and I it is a running gag that many roads you find on road atlases are not passable or not there at all in Upstate NY.
It’s rare for this to be a problem with a satnav or Google Maps because non-roads are generally weighted such that you don’t get sent down them. (Though there was that time I saw somebody get directed down a ‘minimum maintainance road’ which was closed in the winter and full of snow. If she hadn’t turned around she might have gone down a very steep hill and got out of the bottom but she got badly stuck when trying to turn around.)
