I think it's more about latency and packet loss than raw bandwidth. I have 100 Mb/s fibre and it's way way better than my old 200 Mb/s cable was.

Definitely agree there. This screams "we're scared this will be the next big thing in 30 years and we don't want to let anyone else own it".
