On a meta-level, why do news organizations run this kind of story? You know, "N-year-old does Adult Thing X, making lots of money" stories.

First, there's a lot of 12-year-olds. Second, as the Ergodic Hypothesis has it, sooner or later, even the least likely thing comes true. These two premises lead us to believe that certainly a 12-year-old can make $400K doing this sort of thing. It's just not news.

So what's the real reason for pushing these narratives?
