This virus is the prime example of why most people here are against thingd like this. Look how many times the government officials have flipped on all of this virus stuff. One day it is completely debunked, discredited and misinformation to suggest the virus came from a lab. The next day it is a plausible theory. We cannot trust banning misinformation because we don't know what is actually misinformation. What is misinformation today is accurate information tomorrow.

Your perception of the lab leak "flip flop" is exaggerating what actually happened.

This is a really dangerous road to go down. Yesterday's misinformation is still largely if not entirely misinformation. The same will hold true into the future.

A lot of the world's woes can be traced back to people operating on bad information.

First, I didn't say flip flop. I said flipped. Once the authorities changed their mind on something they didn't go back to the previous opinion. If you are going to put quotes around text at least make it something I actually said.

Next, the lab leak is just an example. You can look at other things like masks, whether or not it is airborne, and other things like that. I understand they didn't have all the available information but they sure sounded 100% positive they knew what they were talking about.

Imagine if we could not ever change our societal views on anything? Once something is determined anything else is considered misinformation. I am sure you hold a view that is not the view held by the majority. How would you like any facts you state about that thing banned and labeled misinformation? That is what will happen if this continues.

The only thing that's changed is that it's more widely acknowledged that a lab leak is possible, and just as likely as natural origin. Other viruses have followed a similar origin story.

People were literally banned for saying the lab leak was a possibility over misinformation claims. If they or the distribution of said content was still being banned people may still discount the lab leak. That is the problem with banning content that may be misinformation. If we had 100% accuracy on what is misinformation that would be one thing, but we don't.

Can you show an example of someone being banned somewhere for this? If anything I can see people being banned for pushing any number of conspiracy theories when what they're actually doing is pushing a racist agenda of some kind.
