The author's somewhat cynical take might be an issue here.

The 'employee' probably feels just fine at home.

But coordinating people across product, p. marketing, ops, dev, hr, finance, sales support, sales ... this is a lot of what makes a company tick.

Companies are not collections of automotons doing individual bits of work, the good ones are 'teams' and this dynamic is going to be hard remote.

The article is effectively a little too cynical.

That said, there are also some side benefits no doubt.
