In my experience the answer is that it depends heavily on your situation. For every one of these bullets, there is a time and place to do that thing and a time not to. What sets senior folks apart is the judgement of when these things would apply and how to do them effectively. If a junior IC comes in and starts cargo culting off this they could easily spend all their time writing useless docs and sowing confusion and disrupting the team while completely ignoring the core competencies of their job.
