My response to executives and managers with this attitude is that they ought to care about processes beyond delivering product for the same reason that a restaurant owner ought to care about processes beyond cooking meals.

It might sound good to have your chefs do literally nothing but cook all shift, but they also need time to wash dishes, sharpen tools, organize spice racks, track inventory, maintain work stations, mop floors, etc. Neglect these things long enough, and you increase the likelihood of accidents happening and decrease the quality of the meals produced.
