Ask HN: How do you manage mentions across different apps?

Slack, email, Jira, Notion, Trello, Figma - the list goes on and on.

Our co-workers ask questions and respond to our inquiries, start new conversations, report issues, solicit feedback.

How do you decide what to address first and what to postpone?

Do you respond to mentions as they come or set aside specific time slots? If the former - how do you maintain focus? If the former - how do you politely explain your colleagues that they need to wait?



Triage via email notifications, that all of these tools flow into. I silence all messaging tools/apps (DMs, mentions, etc), and check email between chunks of focus work. If the issue is urgent, someone will call.


Thanks! Do you sort email notifications by latest or is there any other way you decide which to answer first?


FIFO unless something catches my eye that needs immediate attention.
