The drag-to-save feature is incredibly under appreciated today. You could even drag the "file" from a save dialog into another app, rather than into a directory, resulting in a graphical way to do pipes.
How is that better? You have to have already opened the directory where you want to save the file, or do it manually when you want to save instead of the application doing it automatically for you.
