Great read. HN and reddit comments like the post title always irks me whenever a product is talked about in here or in reddit.


I think the HN comments about "what do they all do" are more often than not inquisitive ... or not entirely off the ball as far as "This product could be great if the company running it wasn't trying to be a unicorn and thus spending all that money with little more to show for it."

I don't think those are unfair questions / concepts.


I would find it hilarious to throw a QA team at one of those weekend builds.


Hey, now. I built a PHP CMS for my friend's university club website 12 years ago in a weekend. It had user accounts, profiles, user posts. That's pretty much proto-Facebook, right? I could just scale that up to a billion users, right? /s
